Early readers

Help me see what Recovery of Connection is doing.

Recovery of Connection is the current working title of a book about recovery, relationship, and an embodied understanding of mind. At different stages, I need thoughtful readers who can tell me what interested them, what became unclear, and what they understood the work to be saying.

Signing up means that I may contact you when material from this project seems suited to your interests. It is not a commitment to accept an invitation, and it does not mean that every reader will receive every kind of material.

What the role means

A reader’s response, not an editing assignment.

Pre-publication material from Recovery of Connection may include a short email or pitch, a query letter, one element of the nonfiction proposal, a complete proposal when it is ready, the introduction, part of the book, one chapter, or eventually a larger manuscript.

The request will explain what kind of response would be useful. Sometimes that may be a quick first reaction: What do you think this book is about? Would you want to continue? What stopped you? At other times I may ask about clarity, credibility, emotional resonance, organization, or what stayed with you after reading.

You are not expected to copyedit, fact-check, or provide professional expertise unless we agree separately that this is the purpose of a particular reading.

This form prepares an email in your usual email program. The website does not store the information you enter. If the button does not open your email program, write directly to Readers@johnaher.com.

What kinds of material might you consider reading?

Choose any that interest you. This does not commit you to a future request.

One or two sentences is enough.

What kinds of response would suit you?

There is no preferred answer. Different drafts need different readers.

For example: recovery, embodied cognition, complexity, consciousness, spirituality, culture, Indigenous and Western knowledge traditions, science communication, or general nonfiction reading.

Your response is intended only for organizing early-reader invitations. It is not a subscription to a general newsletter and should not be shared with others.
