John Aher · writer

The mind is bigger than my head.

It extends beyond the skull and beyond thinking. My head still matters, and so does thinking.

I write about how knowing actually happens: in a living body, through a brain that spends all day reading that body, among other people, and in a particular place. Some of it comes from the science of the embodied mind and some from more than forty years in recovery. I try to be straight about which is which, and about what the science can’t tell us yet.
